How To Control .RCP Point cloud from linked view

Hi,

Is there any method in Revit arch 2017 to control the visibility of a point cloud from a linked rvt site file.

In the rvt site file that the point cloud is linked into there is a tab for this in visibility graphics however overriding a link in the new works rvt file doesn't give that option nor is the tab visible in visibility graphics in the new works file.

I hope this sums up better what i am trying to say...

vg = visibility graphics

rcp is the point cloud

rvt is the rvt file

point cloud rcp=> site rvt(pc tab visible in vg) => new works rvt (no tab visible to control rcp here in vg)

so how can i control visibility of the poitn cloud in my new works?

Assuming you just need to be able to switch it on or off...

1. Create an option set (called e.g "Point Cloud") in the file containing the point cloud with two options "On" and "Off".

2. Put the point cloud in the "On" option.

3. Specify the primary option to suit your workflow. e.g. If you'd rather it wasn't visible every time you create a new view, make "Off" the primary.

4. Now you can switch the point cloud on and off in the other file via the link's Design Options tab in Graphic Overrides.

Assign a Design Option as suggested by @Alex_Shovelton or a workset to be able to turn off the RCP in a Link should work.

There is another trick should you don't have the right to edit the Link files:

Insert a Point Cloud directly in you model, it can and should be empty, doesn't matter.  Put it in a workset set to Always Off.  Then you have access to Point Clouds tab under V/G so that you can clear the box and turn them all off, including the ones in the Links.
