How to calculate area of a roof in plan view?

I need to have plan view areas of roof surfaces noted. So, not the sloped ares (as if I need shingle area), actual plan view surfaces of different areas of the roof.
If the roof is 10m×10m in plan, I need to get 100sq meters as a result, no mater the slope.

I thought it can be done through "Area", but apparently not.
Also, how do I get my roof back after I start that command, the only way I can see is undo, but I must be missing something.

Here is my failed attempt if gif.

You can create Area Plans

  1. View Tab
  2. Create Panel
  3. Plan View (drop down)
  4. Area Plan
  5. Create new Area & Area Boundary in the Architecture Tab

This plans tabulate plan view areas

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results

Change the Area Plan Cut Plane to see the roof, or set Underlay to show the roof, then draw Area Boundary lines by picking the roof lines, then place an Area + Area tag inside each boundary you want to calculate.

Assuming the Level 4 is at the Ridge...

  1. Create Area Plan and change the View Depth of the Level 4 Area Plan to Ground Level
  2. then do what was suggested in Reply 2 ... Boundaries, Areas, tags, schedule ...etc

Yup, creating an Area plan is the solution. Thanks!
