How to attach two styles of roofs together and have no overlap underneath either of them?

I'm working on some drawings and I'm fairly new to Revit. I understand the basics of making roofs, but I have two types here (gable and a hip roof) that need to be attached with nothing underneath them.

I've attached pictures to show what the model should look like (sketchup) and what I currently have. I've done the join roofs, but it leaves the gable part under the other. If anyone also has any good tutorials let me know, I've been searching everywhere and haven't really found what I've needed.

(Join roofs, but it has the gable in the attic space)

Use a void or a vertical opening cut to cut the part of the roof you don't want.
