How to assign VG/Filter for elements inside MASS family by layers

hello, i made a composite wooden roof (with many layers of elements) then nested in project. Then I want to assign this elements as if the layers in VG/filters. So when I convert the project to Lumion render, these elements can be displayed layer by layer.
Please advice how shall I do.
Thanks

Can't you create Parts from the assembly to do that?  Betcha can.

Hello @barthbradley

 the above link is to divide a whole pice into seperate parts. But the elements in my mass family are already individual "part", so seems not relevant?  (I create many many elements in a mass family then nest to a project, then wants these many elements to be assign as layers in VG/filters, which can be turn-on/off to display)

[;ease advice Thanks

"Mass"?  As in "Mass Form"?  Are you modeling the structure with Mass Forms or with building components (e.g. Walls, Roofs, etc.)?  In other words, are Wall/Roof layers created by Mass Faces?

Create subcategories in the mass family.

FWIW: You can easily Model those Beams with Structural Framing Components.   You do that by checking "3D Snapping" on the Options Bar and using the Pick Lines Tool to pick a Mass Edge.

(1)I created many elements (joists, tiles, roof sheet, egde beams) of generic models or GM fami;y on Mass Form in the Mass Family
(2) they are all generic models not building components, they are made on a mass form

I had tried it 2 years ago, but gave up due to odd shape of element and curved roof faces, long story. do you have advice or a link for a process how to (1) create a 2-way curve roof face (3) devide curved grid on face (4) distribute joist (in odd shape family) (5) then nest to project (6) how to ASSIGN each of these elements in VG FILTER as if a layer

Thanks

@ToanDN Hello

Yes "subcategory" was exactly I did last year, My elements contains 3 levels so, there are now too many subcategories in the "model categories" in project, so it is  too complicated to select for display as if a layer such as in VG/Filet

So any simpler way to assignthem (which are families and subfamilies inside the mass family nested in project) to  VG /filter?

Please advice, many thanks

Too many subcategories? If you want to separate so many elements by layers then of course you will need so many subcategories.  I don't know what else you expect?
