How should this facade system be modelled?

Hi all,

Apologies in advance, I'm only a newcomer to Revit.

I have been trying to model a facade system for a university assignment, but have reached a point now where I'm struggling to refine the model. This is probably due to my method of creating the model, so I would be really interested to know how I should be working and where I am going wrong.

I started with a three-sided steel framing system (Image A) This is just a generic model (modelled in place)

Inside of the steel frame is a series of tiles which are arranged in varying patterns (Image B) The tile patterns are comprised of one generic model family unit which I have loaded into the project and copied multiple times to create a row. I've then simply copied and stacked the rows vertically before selecting them all to create a group.

Where I'm now having trouble is that I'd like to cut or trim these tile elements to all sit neatly within the steel framing (highlighted blue in Image B) but I am finding that these groups or generic model families aren't directly editable with cut geometry.

Is there a way I can convert or combine my current facade system so the different elements and families are directly editable and able to be cut? Or is it best to start the facade over with a different approach?

Thank you.Image AImage AImage BImage B

I would start this with a curtain wall.  Create mullions to match your steel sections.  You can replace panels with empty panels if it is open.  Create or modify a curtain panel to match your pattern. These will trim neatly to the mullions.
