Hello,
I have been trying to clear out my computer and have come across Revit journals. After quickly researching I understand the basics journals but can't comprehend how important they actually are?
The journal file I have found is 50GB, I open it in notepad and don't even want to imagine how many characters 50GB of text is.
How vital is this file to my project? And what are the repercussions of deleting it?
If you encounter problems during a Revit session, your support provider may ask you to send the journal file and any backup files to help with the troubleshooting process. If you do not encounter problems during a session, the journal file is of little use and can be deleted.
okay that makes sense.
so the 50GB file I have shown in the image is a journal for one session only? sounds like a pretty heavy session lol.
I'd say open it up....but 50gb is probably too large for notepad to read, but notepad+ might work if you have it installed.
Look ate the time and date of the journal file, if it is old then get rid of it. Even if it is recent, but your Revit project runs smoothly with proper backups, then you can still close Revit and get rid of it (if it is not automatically gets removed).
