I notice that structural footings added to a wall made out of several layers (some of which not structural) will center on the overall wall width. I would like to make the structural footing center on the wall's core centerline, but I cannot find any instance or type property of the structural footing that will help. Only way I see is to manually edit the footing eccentricity for every footing, which seems... well... not very BIM.
Any ideas?
Many thanks

I don't get it ...why is so difficult and Un BIM, to type the distance between the two centres (Wall and Core) in the Eccentricity cell.....
Constantin Stroescu
Thanks for confirming there is no other way to do this but to change the Eccentricity value. I will use this option now.
It seems non-BIM because it's an instance parameter, so I have to manually adjust it for every wall in the project that has a footing. Different walls have different structures, therefore require different eccentricities... To my understanding wall footings are structural members (load bearing), so having the possibility to link them to the load bearing part of the wall (the core) seems like a useful and BIM-like option to have.
Anyway, I cast my vote for the request from the link from the other poster to this thread, so... hopefully it gets implemented.
Thanks.

Don't hold your breath. It's been on the "Wish List" since Moses wore shorts. Pigs will probably fly before this feature is added. I agree with you though that needing to adjust Eccentricity is stupid and shouldn't be necessary.
So I did as suggested by @constantin.stroescu and used the Eccentricity instance property of the Wall Footings in order to center them on the wall core. But now I come into a different problem:
When intersecting a different footing, the footings tend to extend with an equal amoount as the Eccentricity I have set for the footing that they intersect.
I have attached my Revit model. In it you can see:
The question is then: is there any way to clean this up correctly? Obviously they all clean up correctly if I give up on using the Eccentricity instance property and just let them center on the overall wall thickness, but I would prefer them to center on the wall core rather than the overall wall.
The Revit Help system states for Foundation Slabs, in the Structural Engineering->Foundations-> Foundation Slabs section that: "Foundation slabs may also be used to model complex foundation shapes that cannot be created using Isolated or Wall Foundation tools." I suppose I can try to model the foundations for my house using Foundation slabs 45cm thick, but is there maybe another way to do this?
Many thanks in advance.
