What is the best way to show thin membrane type materials in Revit for wall sections and such detail items? For instance, I need to show a drainage layer on the exterior of my foundation wall, or the vapour barrier wrapped around my header joist, connected to air barrier on warm side of insulation, and I am not sure what the best way is. See attached detail line based family I created for such an application but it seems kind of cumbersome. I would love to know other users methods.
Thanks,
Ozren
That's definitely the easy way to do it, but what about using it for quantity take offs. The line in the detail doesn't allow you to query the object and say hey that's 'X SF' of membrane material, or Paint Type 1. Which would allow me to say this project has that much material and that allows me to cross check my subs quantity take offs and better bid my design/build jobs.
Short of drawing a wall, soffit, and other component types that is let's say 10 mils thick, is there a better way to maybe draw a membrane and say it covers the following surfaces?
So I've found it almost always works better for me to build up walls layer by layer, as assemblies tend to create situations where for example, the studs do one thing, and the sheathing does another.
I was hoping there was an easy way to apply a membrane to surfaces, and treat membranes the way they should truly be, which is a surface area calculator tool.
