How do I stop lines and dimensions from snapping to wall finishes in Elevations

For a lot of the finishing trims and openings for the homes I design, I have to manually draw in details and dimensions. This has been an annoyance because whenever I'm trying to draw and DIM, it keeps wanted to hard snap to the surface pattern of my exterior walls which is a huge pain to try to avoid. I have attached 2 screen captures showing this behavior. Any advice on how I could turn this reference behavior for foreground model patterns off?

Under Manage, click on Snaps. There you can change to suit your needs

Simple solution: hide the Wall's Surface Pattern in the View.  No?

Thank you for your reply, I have tried using the snaps manage to prevent this behavior however I still need to snap to specific things when I am working on the elevations views. I am trying to turn this behavior off solely for wall patterns while allowing me to snap lines and DIM to the things I am actually trying to manipulate in view. Using the manage snaps turns off snapping behavior project wide which is not what I am after

i don't know of a way to have the dimensions not select patterns. usually what i do when this gets annoying is to turn off the visibility off the wall patterns.

VG > pick the wall category > click on the patterns override box > uncheck visible

Ah, this is a good work around I hadn't thought of. I can hide in view, do my detail work, then restore the patterns. Thank you. I was just wishing there was a more elegant solution so that I could still use my brick patterns for visual alignment without having to fight snapping to every single line of the brick pattern. I will keep trying new things but this at least saves me time for right now; thank you.

Just create a view template turning off walls category surface pattern, untick all other boxes, apply it when you dimension the view, and switch back to your regular template when done.
