How do I override the place request warning in a central model?

I am trying to edit something, and I get the error that says, "Can't edit the element until "xxx" resaves the element to central and relinquishes it and you Reload Latest." However, that person is no longer with our company. Is there any way to override that error? I'm not even sure that we still have his computer.

If your company still have Revit network license, you can change the name to your former employee by going to options. Open the model, Revit assume you are that individual and will give you control. Relinquish it and exit.

I am signed in on my profile. The only way I can see to sign out is sign out and quit. However, when I reopen the project, it asks for email and password. Is there a way to sign out, but stay in the project?

You need network license and you cannot use subscription to override this. If you only have subscription, you may have to detach the central file and override it to get rid of the former employee control over certain elements.

Don't forget to change the user name back after you do that.....

You should also be able to Open the model with "Detached From Central" checked. Once open, save over the old copy and Sync to Central. this will Re-Centralize the model and clear out all element borrowing/ownership's.

Hi. This may help as a one off but in our case we have never set any locks or restrictions on access to any users so can someone please explain why I cannot place a new section without having to place a request every time? I want that all company users can draw whatever they want without having to run back and forth between computers accepting requests.

Taking ownership of something does not require locks or restrictions.

This statement doesn't make sense. Why is it necessary to run back and forth?

If you want to figure out why it's happening, you'll have to question the users as to what they may done to take ownership of new sections. I'm not sure how that can happen. Maybe they are editing types without synching/relinquishing afterwards?

I am the only person working on the file currently but I have used one other computer about 2% of the work time as my other computer had issues. I had a remote session with autodesk yesterday and basically on my machine I couldnt even change the section box for a 3d view without asking the main computer to accept the change request.

We got around the problem and we may have identified the issue. I was doubleclicking on the revit file rather than opening it from within Revit.

The solution was that we detached the file and then resaved the central file and hopefully if I do not doubleclick and open the file then this would stop happening. However, I still do not understand why really I had to place request for every single move as I had not modified any settings on any of the users.

Yeah, that's not recommended for a number of reasons.

I still don't understand why user settings would be affecting this. I'm guessing it's a workset issue and maybe improper synching and relinquishing. That would make more sense.
