How do I measure lengths on slanted surfaces from mass ?
revit refuse to make workplace at slanted surfaces at my case , ill send photo to see what i need .
Create a reference plane, name it, align it to the slanted surface. When you go to set workplane, this will show up in the list of workplanes to select.

Open a 3D view. On the tool ribbon choose Architecture > Work Plane > Set and then choose the Pick a plane option. Now click on a slanted bit in your 3D view.
I completely mean Revit refuses to choose a surface
You can see that when I select the desired surface you will find that it chooses the intersection line ,not the surface and this is the problem
With your thanks and respect for your attention
Certainly
I am an old user of the Revit program, and this will not be missed.
Respect and appreciation,
Maybe the surface is not planar, but warped. Create an adaptive generic family with two points and snap it where you want to measure, then list the length.
@Anonymous
You cannot select a surface because the option for selecting elements by surfaces is off.
This is a screen capture of the taken from image that you posted:
You are correct. I just read post # 7 above, and in that post the user just says "Revit refuses to choose a surface" while his toggle button to select an element by surface is off. That post does not mention that what the users wants to do is to set a workplane. Now I know. ![]()
