Hi, maybe this is a basic question, but I'm trying to make a Revit model from a point cloud, hence it being useful to model in place rather than from a family template. When I go to model in place, I select the Windows category, and then go about crafting the model in the in-place editor.
Now the problem I have is that don't know how to make this type of window automatically cut a wall such as a loadable window would. I know how to convert my in-place model into a loadable model, but its behaviour remains the same. What do I need to do to give it that auto-wall-cutting behaviour?
Thanks, that's helpful information. I didn't realise that the window tab had its own model in-place section with the cut opening option.
But as a follow up question, when I've modelled the window in place, can I convert that into a loadable family which cuts the wall automatically, so that I can drop it into other parts of the project without having to cut the opening each time?
Thanks, yes I have seen this tutorial before, and it's useful to convert a model group into an rfa file, but even when I model a window in place with a cut opening included in the group-->family, when I go to test the .rfa file on a wall, nothing happens. Whatever geometry I include in the family is just buried in the wall. I tried creating a group--->family that was just a cut opening, to see what would happen, and dropping it into the wall left the wall totally unaltered.
Thoughts?
Is there a procedure to convert this external family I have made into a wall-hosted family?
