I somehow edited the extension on the handrail shown in the images below by extending the end in both the ‘elevation’ and ‘plan’ planes. I can’t seem however to duplicate this on other handrails, being able to only extend the handrail in the ‘elevation’ plane. Can anyone take a guess on how I accomplished this in both planes? I can’t remember, or figure it out. The file is attached if you’ve got time to look at it. Thank you!

Aaahhh, the mysteries of the universe! Let's see if it can be solved.....
Here is what I think that you did -
1) Tab to select the railing
2) Edit Rail
3) Edit Path
4) Additional Sketch lines that looked like the bold lines.
5) Accept by clicking the green check mark
The problem I am having is that when I try to draw a line perpendicular to the rail, I get the little circle with a line in it, and the message that says I ‘can't draw because work plane is at a very sharp angle in this view’, and I can’t seem to switch the work plane. When I do switch the plan to a plan view, it goes back to a named reference plan when I go into rail editing mode.
You can do it by adding an extension (see pic), so when you go to Edit Rail -> Edit Path, that horizontal piece is available.
'the horizontal extension segment cannot be modified, e.g. shorten or lengthen.'
Yes, it can.
No matter what I do, I can't draw a horizontal in the plan plane, only in the elevation plane of the handrail!!
Correction - forget the blather about working in a section view - draw in a 3D view. The stuff below the original rail is what I was messing around with.
ToanDN - How did you draw this segment? I assume it is the horizontal plane of the landing. That's the type of segment I did before but can't get back to being able to!
'But it is not the same with what you did because you were able to add it under the handrail type without extension.'
@ToanDN imho, this is impossible. How do you know it was done w/o adding an extension?
@PhilvK, do you remember drawing this segment or you’re not sure (do not remember) how it got there?
@PijPiwo if you look at his file, the handrail type does not have any extensions. Can it be overridden somewhere?
Okay. Here is how I think he did: Added an extension to handrail type, stretched the horizontal segment, remove the extension from the handrail type. The segment stayed.
Yes! That is what I did (see the accepted solutions). Thanks to all 3 of you for taking time out to look at this!!
