I am trying to seperate my structural model into 4, I want to use something simple like a room or an area so that I can seperate the 4 parts, how can I do this? i tried to show them in a schedule but it didnt work
why ?
this is not matter ![]()
you can define a parameter and give the value for each part like PART A,PART B and etc. and then you can separate them in visibility and schedule.
The reason why is I have a structural model, that I want to quantify for a BOQ that is broken up into 4 different sized areas that I need to quantify how much steel is in each. I know I can create a parameter selecting each one yes but isn't my idea much easier than this? when it will be hard to select and change each one manually like you suggested

you didn't say!
but i think this is the only way and may be you can use the (Dynamo/Python Script) select element collector to select the element in the room ,but you need still the parameter to make them different.
Ok, thanks.. I just thought I would be able with either rooms/areas, because you can do so easily with generic models within a room.. or furniture
