How can I setup "Drag structural Framing component End" without elevation

hi, could someone please give some advice this is driving me nuts:

Whenever I drag the structural Framing component end (blue point) that end gets an elevation. Is there a way to do this change in plan view without getting an elevation on the end of the Girder.

As you can see I am trying drag the component end (Bluepoint) to be aligned with the center of the column, or with the grid. I'm having a struggle with the snaps as I get a lot of symbols.

once I drag it to the center of the column, that specific end immediately changes elevation, when I'm just draggin it in a plan view.

This is How it looks in 3D

I tried the following:

I really don't know where is located on the intersection of grids or in the center of the column (Located in the same place) I'm Kind of confused

@lim.wendycould you please review this post I will appreciate your advice too. Thanks in advance

Why don't you drag the handle ("blue dot") in Elevation?

Right click on the blue dot>disallow join. Adjust then right click on blue dot>allow join

But it doesn't have anything to do with Allow/Disallow Join.

I just use Disallow Join and the Trim/Extend command. We are HVAC not structural so this works for the odd bit of steel we place.

Can't have a Distance Attachment Type if you Disallow Join. Maybe I misread. I thought this was about Adjusting the Beam Elevation at a Column Join. That's the link the OP posted it above.

It did work in sections and elevations, I think is the less stressing method, because there are fewer snaps.

The amount of snaps is insane

I tried again in the plan view I checked each snap by hitting the Tab key and got the following results:

It did not work on the following snaps (I got a diagonal beam with an elevation at the end of the element 👎😞

However, with the following snaps, it worked perfect, no elevations on the end of the Girder 👍:

the intersection (X) and the square 🔲 gave me the desired results. The intersect snap is placed on the intersecting grids as well as in the intersection of the column's horizontal axis with the vertical grid. the column is located in the intersected Grids.

thanks for your reply I really appreciate your Advice,

@djthompson  I thought I posted the question in the architecture forum. does it show in the HVAC? Is there a way to change it?

Not sure if you ever got your answer, but if you use the extend tool it would work better than trying to pull with the blue grip. Those blue dots have a tendency to snap to the end point of the columns, which looks like it goes pass the floor level. Click extend tool and select mid-point or intersection of column and select the beam you want to extend.
