How can I place lights on equal distance in my project.

My house is not at 90 degree angle in Revit,it is at some 30 degree angle, so I had very difficult time while doing the dimensions. Now I have manually placed all the lights in my ceiling view because I could not use array command. They are not looking good as they are not at equal distance. I also tried to place grids in my first floor ceiling plan view so that I could place my ceiling lights on grids intersection but now I cannot find a way to make equal distance between grids which could have been easily done if my house was drawn at a proper angle in revit by using aligned measuring tool. Revit is not recognizing aligned tool now. What can I do.Capture.PNG 3.PNG

Why would you model at an angle instead of squared up? I always model in views set to Project North, and use a Site Plan set to True North to establish the real-world angle of my project on site.

But you can use the Array tool on an angle. Set up the options for quantity and distance and first/last, then click once on an inside corner of your walls to establish the starting point of the array distance, move your cursor to another inside corner of the same wall (to establish the direction of the array...doing it along a wall in this way will allow the snap functionality to find a direction parallel to that wall) and type in your first/last distance.

Hi @Anonymous

you can do lots of things...

  1. i would use reference planes instead of grids...however either ways you should still be able to set grids at equal distance even if they are not at 90 degrees ... Set first and last grid/ref planes aligned with room walls (interior) and pin them, place the intermediate grids/ref planes, Dimension them (aligned) and use EQ
  2. Building should be oriented vertically to the screen at least in one mode (to true north) OR (to project North). If neither of those is orthogonal (up) to the screen, go to point 3
  3. if u want to worth orthogonal ... Easy way without messing project north and true north is: for that view, on he properties panel >> check the box to make crop region visible >> on the view select the crop region and rotate it to the desired angle which makes building vertical and there u go u r working orthogonal ll without rotating the building
  4. You should still be able to use array tool irrespective of the angle, u just need to pick/place the 2nd point of the array in the proper location which orients properly with the layout (i.e.: same angl)
  5. ....

edit: hey! Sup @chrisplyler 😛 🙂 just saw ur reply (was in edit mode when u posted)

Thank you. I have change my site plan view to true North now. I don't know what was going wrong when I was using array command earlier. It is looking reasonably better now.Capture.PNG 4.PNG
