Hiding wall lines and problem with model lines' level

Hi, I need some help with some problems I've been experiencing in Revit

1) for my thesis I needed to divide the perimeter walls (but also the internal ones) in smaller parts and now in 3D view I see an exorbitant number of lines: is there a way to hide them?

In general, what is the rule to hide a line in the model (except the "Hide in view" control which is not possible with wall lines)? Because my problem n°2 is that, even though I'm drawing some model lines on a ceiling on a different level, I can see them on the upper floor, as you can see in the picture attached below.
How can I fix that? I tried with the display range but I can still see the lines

I hope you can help me

Thank you very much in advance

Topic 1: Walls

How did you divide the walls?

  1. Did you split the walls using "Split Element" tool (ie: you have several wall sections)
  2. Did you split the wall face using "Split Face" tool (ie: single wall and the finish face split)
  3. Did you just add model lines as you did with the ceilings?

Topic 2: How to hide lines

There is no specific or universal way for hiding line. It depends on what the lines are.

  1. Some may be hidden in visibility graphics
  2. Some may be simply view specific lines (they appear in one view but not the other)
  3. Some may be controlled using worksets (like Split face elements)
  4. Some may be associated with Visibility Control Parameter

Topic 3: Ceilings

Model lines are 3D elements visible in all views. If you are placing lines which you need only on specific views, you need to use Detail Lines

@RDAOU thank you very much for you answer!

For Topic 1:

I used the "Split Element" tool so now I have several walls and my goal is to hide this lines that delimit the walls

 How can I fix that?

Topic 3: I'm using model lines because I need to see those lines also in 3D because they represent cracks. Since I haven't found a way to highlight just the cracked ceilings (and not the upper floor) with a filter, I created another level and another floor of 1 cm just to represent the ceiling's plaster and, in the ceiling plan, I drew the model lines. Since the plaster is at a different height than the upper floor slab (1st floor) I can't understand why it appears in the first floor plan view and I would like to adjust that (probably I make some mistakes with the view range)
Hopefully you can help me with that, too

Thank you very much again

For the ceiling cracks...I would suggest using a Generic Model Line Based Family with a Model Line which you can assign to a subcategory and give it its weight.  When loaded and used in the project, the subcategory can be switched off in Visibility graphics to hide it in views where you do not need it. You can alternatively

  1. use a View Filter to hide it
  2. place it on a workset which is only visible in certain views (If you are Worksharing)

FOr the Wall Splits...You can use

  1. Linework and click over them using an invisible line
  2. Use Join Geometry (Similar to below animated Gif)

Several other options are possible but the above are the first that crossed my mind

Thanks again for your help and the gif, it's really kind of you.

One last question: which View Filter would you suggest me to apply to those Model Lines in the first floor plan view?

For Model lines added directly in the Model...the below is one option to hide/reveal them

  1. Go to Manage Tab >> Additional Settings >> Line Styles
  2. Add a new line style subcategory (Call it lets say Cracks Walls or Cracks Ceiling)
  3. Give it the Weight and color and pattern desired then click OK
  4. In the model
    • Select the model lines
    • On the Ribbon or in the properties palette >>> Assign them to the new Line Style you created in step 2
  5. Type VV for visibility graphics or from the Menu tab View >> Visibility Graphics
  6. Scroll to the category LINES and expand it
  7. Uncheck visibility of the Cracks Walls lines which you created in step 2

Edit: Screencast added
