Hello guys,
lets think I have my MEP model into which i attached architectural model with grids and building including dimensions. The architectural model has 6 floors .
After i create my own grid system and level system (in my MEP model), and set for my 6 floors to paritcular 6 floor views from the architectural view,
i simply want to "hide all the grids and dimensions" from attached architectural model, simply not to disrurb my work .
Is there any way to tell the layout template to hide grids and dimensions to all places i need at once (that means avoid to set up each floor separatedly by V/G setting ) ...
View template setting has some possibilities, but you simply cannot use this particular setting of "hiding dimensions and grids" as well as "keep the linked view in particular floor (i.e. one from mentioned 6)"
EITHER you use "CUSTOM" mode in the Basics category to allow "Anootation categories" to be opened and you can set the visibility of dimensions and grid in attached model:
- but you apply this template for all 6 floors and unfortunatelly you see in all of them which was "frozen" within the tepmlate of "Custom" settings.... (this is BAD and i do not want it of course)
OR : you simply MUST to change visibility of dimensions+grid separatedly-MANUALL) in each used floor in my MEP model (6 floors in this example ) because doing in group without "Custom" Baisc RVT Link Display setting is NOT POSSIBLE
... and this really SUCKS
in another words.... the manual written on URL here :
...is USELESS because, yes there is possible to "hide grids in linked models" but , OMG, it is NOT POSSIBLE with need keep the preset "linked view" as it is ...(that means 6 particular preset linked views from 1st floor to 6th floor let it be and just hide the bloody dimensions on all of them !! )
pleas help me!
I am so depressed

Try this:
Insert > Manage RVT Links > select the Architectural link > Manage worksets > close Shared Levels and Grids workset > Reload link.
It's better to have a method where you don't have to rely on the diligence of others of using the correct workset.
The custom/turn off method works. It's just tedious when there are multiple linked models.
If your linked models utilizing worksets properly then close linked Shared Levels and Grids worksets is the easiest way as they will gone for good for your entire model until you deliberately re-open the linked worksets.
However, I acknowledged @ronsarlo comments that not all models are created equal so here is another way.
- Rename your grid and level types to add your company name as Prefix
- Create a filter for all level and grid categories that Type Name does not content that Prefix
- Add the filter to view templates and hide it
Interesting solution, I didn't think about making our types have a unique name.
That'll do if I can get the team to buy into it.
Thanks.
