Hiding Previously Issued Revisions in Revision Schedule

Anonymous

I'm trying to hide previously issued revisions in the revision schedule that appears on my sheets. Specifically I'd like to "filter" out sequence/revisions 1 through 3 and only have sequences/revisions 4, 5, and 6 show up in the revision schedule, however, unlike normal schedules, there does not seem to be any way of filtering rows of a revision schedule. The revisions that I don't want to show up are marked as "Issued" and their 'Show' parameter is marked as 'None' however they are still appearing in the schedule. If anyone knows of a way to hide certain rows of a revision schedule I would greatly appreciate it. See the attached images to better understand what I'm trying to describe.

EDIT: I'm using Autodesk Revit 2018.1 if that helps at all.

Thank you.

I'm not aware of a way to do this, but I do want to share two Revit ideas about this:

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/revit-ideas/filtering-of-titleblock-revision-schedules/idi-p/6322655

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/revit-ideas/hide-unfinished-revisions-from-index-sheets-and-title-blo...

Consider adding your support to these. The more votes, the more likely it will be picked up by the development team.

Hi pieter,

Thank you for pointing to me to these threads. I will definitely be supporting the idea of adding filtering capability to revision schedules.

Are you okay if the revision schedule has a maximum of 3 rows, so only the 3 latest ones show?

Or, a workaround, as always.

Hi ToanDN,

This actually works perfectly for what I'm needing. Most workarounds are pretty convoluted but this seems pretty straightforward and achieves what I'm after. Thanks for the tip!

Here's to hoping we get an actual Filter capability in revision schedules!

Thanks again.

The only issue I have had with this method is that it will add an additional space before revision schedule rows on some sheets and not on others. I think this might be happening because of how the schedule reacts when a sheet contains none of the "filtered" revisions versus when it does contain one or some of the "filtered" revisions. This is only an issue for me because I'm attempting to have detail lines in the titleblock family to create a "fake" delta for the revision number to land inside of. When the schedule adds an additional line (or when it doesn't) the number isn't landing inside my fake delta tag.

If anyone knows if there is a way to always force an additional line or always not have the additional line that would be great.

If you are looking to hide previous revisions and only show the latest 3,4,5, etc... when you create the revision schedule open the appearance tab under revision properties. Where it asks for the height it will automatically say variable, change that to "user defined". When you place the schedule on to your titleblock you will be able to size your schedule appropriately to your liking and only the latest revisions will show in the schedule. We do this for our bigger projects that have upwards of 50 revisions but only want to show the latest ones in the revision schedule.

Hi @ToanDN - I realize this is an old thread, but I am having this same issue in revit 2019 and cannot follow your workaround suggestion. Are you using the "Issued to" parameter to filter what shows on the sheets? If yes, can you more clearly explain the process?

We are also trying to make all revision schedules match for the entire project, regardless of if that particular cloud appears on a specific sheet.

I am able to do this one sheet at a time with the "revisions on sheet" setting under properties; but that method is quite laborious for a 250+ page drawing set.

Thank you for your help

Not a filter, but group the rows using Issued To field. All the rows with a blank Issued To will be compressed in to one blank row.

To apply Revisions to multiple sheets, get some free add-ins such as PyRevit or XRev Freebie.

Another method is to select all the revision clouds on the sheet which are part of the revision you don't want to show and using right click > hide in view > Elements (shortcut EH).  This will hide them from showing in the schedule as well.

Dear,

If this thread was clear. Open the 'Title block Family' => go to the 'Schedule', from your title block, in the project browser, and click on it. The dialoge in properties will show the 'Appearance' edit button. Then follow the steps and click on the check box 'height'. You now can manage the height of your schedule in the title block.

If you give a very high number for the "blank raws", there wont be any blank line in the begining of the list.
Anyway, it is a very useful workaround, thx!

THATS COOL, BUT IF THERE'S ONE THING IVE LEARNED ABOUT REVIT, THEY WONT FIX ANYTHING WE NEED THEM TO. THEYLL JUST FORCE US TO BUY SOME 3RD PARTY PROGRAM TO DO WHAT REVIT SHOULD BE DOING

Hi, @sam.vdb

I am not able to change the height of the schedule from the top. It only gives me a round button at the bottom, which means I can hide the latest issuance information. How do I hide let’s say the first 4 issues revisions on the schedule?
Thanks

Hi @ToanDN

For the ‘Appearance’ approach and change height manually as indicated above, I am not able to change the height of the schedule from the top. It only gives me a round button at the bottom, which means I can hide the latest issuance information. How do I hide let’s say the first 4 issues revisions on the schedule?
Thanks

Is your revision schedule Top down or Bottom up?

@ToanDN Really appreciate the response. I have the top down approach.

I reduced height using the bottom round button to show only 3 latest revisions. But the issue is if I increase the height of the schedule for a future revision and don’t issue a couple sheets with that future revision, they start to show previous revisions on those sheets not issued.. is there any way to tackle that?
