Hide subcategory lines from family within linked file

Hi all,

I have seen a number of posts related to subcategories.

I have a similiar problem. I have a received structural file with CLT timber beams.

Within the family (of the structural) file - the engineers have modelled a cross under the "structural framing [projection]"  subcategory

I would like to filter out this cross, however because the cross is on a very generic subcategory - i do not want to hide /  change this subcategory on a project level, i would like to control it on a view based level. (correct me if i'm wrong but changing the subcategory of the projection of structural framing to white lines / hidden would effectively hide these elements in their entirety - in a B&W view)

Trying to filter and use a solid hatch does not cover the symbolic lines.

I think this may result in requesting the engineers updating their family uptream to place these lines on a more specific workset we can control on a project level

Does anyone have any ideas if this is possible without the consultants amending their families ?

(one slightly protracted method I would like to avoid would be to copy monitor the beams and amend the family on our end to remove the offending cross- this seems a bad idea ...)

Thanks

Set the link display to Custom then you can turn off the subcategory.

You can add those subcategories to your own model and then you can control it from a view template.
