Someone already posted an idea, but I wonder if there is a workaround or other option already. i use R2022.
I have a schedule perform some calculations for sizing. So I want to see those columns when I open the schedule and enter data etc. But on a sheet I only want to show what is necessary for the contractor. So hiding a column for "sheet only" would be a nice option.
My only somewhat cumbersome ideas:
- duplicate schedule and have one dedicated to sheet with hidden columns. Problem is that gives me double the number of schedules and if I get a new idea, need to edit 2 schedules
- manually hide the columns after design is complete. but that kind of prevents me from seeing the complete data if I make changes during a design and then I can't do easy sanity checks. and if I need to unhide columns mid-design, then the sheet schedule will be too big and clutter up the sheet.
Better ideas?

Create 2 View templates (One for ON SHEET) another for (EDITING)...when you want to edit the schedule apply the template for editing where columns are not hidden ... and once you are done apply the ON sheet template which hides the columns

You could have a "working schedule" and one duplicated schedule for sheets. We usually differentiate them by a naming convention: UPPERCASE for the "official" schedule and lowercase (Working) for the schedule that shows all the columns. Such as:
I'm sorry, where can I change the template for which columns to hide? The only options is to change appearance per template (font size etc.), but not which data to hide.
When I hide a field (under formatting), it will be hidden regardless of template. Phase filter and Appearance tab seem to be the only impacted by the template.
It is
Which is more convenient is relative to how many schedules you will be applying this...The View Template method is an alternative to duplicating schedules and having long lists in the project browser.
It works as follows:

OK. thanks. For some reason when I edited a template I already had it only showed me the Appearance tab to be edited. But like in the video creating a new template from scratch let's me also include the "hide" option in the template.
but here is the problem, for different type of equipment it will be different dat fields I need to hide.
the one I started with is for radiators and I included correction factors and other parameters specific to radiators. With the template I can hide or show those specific data fields. but for a different type of equipment (let's pretend something with doors, or windows etc.), I would have to make a separate template.
Basically yes... it is per type of equipment
The idea is if one is using the Double Schedule method one would need to create a view template anyways to lock it and prevent users from fiddling with the fields of the sheet schedule... so why not minimize the schedules in the project browser and use an extra view template where needed.

Thanks, I will play with it and see how many of my schedules have a difference between design and actual sheet version and try if I like the template or the duplicate schedule method better.
One advantage I see for duplicate schedules is that the one on the sheet always looks like it is supposed to. If I do the template method, I may accidentally publish the sheet with the wrong template applied.
Thanks to all for the input.
(secretly hoping Autodesk gives us a better option...)
