Hidden objects are included in exported IFC?

Hello,

I am trying the Revit 2025 trial, and I am trying to export the sample called "BIM_Projekt_Golden_Nugget-Architektur_und_Ingenieurbay" which has hidden elements that only show when clicking "Reveal hidden elements" at the bottom. When I export it, the exported IFC includes the supposedly hidden elements.

I seem to remember from time ago that if you hid the elements then they would not be included in the export. Am I missing something? I've made sure to go to Modify Setup > Additional Content > Export only elements visible in view. It still includes the hidden elements in the export.

Below is a screenshot of the current view, export settings, and output opened in an IFC viewer.

Thanks!

I mentioned in the post I DID turn on "Export only elements visible in view" and it still exported the hidden elements.

Hi @koori_graywolf,

Are you using the latest IFC exporter, Maybe a bug?

The last version can be found here: https://github.com/Autodesk/revit-ifc/releases/tag/IFC_v25.2.0

I am using the latest available Revit 2025 trial, and I also installed that link you sent me, and the problem persists.

Attached is a screenshot showing the current view, the setup, and the output file.

Thanks for helping!

maybe it is a bug but you can use the filter to hide the unwanted element: make a project parameter like "Not in IFC" and use it to all objects and uncheck the visibility.
or copy the part of your unwanted objects in another file and post it here:

Categories marked as "Not Exported" in the IFC Export Classes dialog are not included in the export. You can modify these categories by using the shared parameter IFCExportAs in Revit. A comprehensive list of classes that can be changed is available here:

IFC Export Classes in Revit 2023

Hello! This worked perfectly.

I didn't manage to find an option also called "Not in IFC" in the Filter Rules to the right so I just kept it as is, but just adding the surfaces to the filter and then turning visibility off for that filter in Visibility/Graphics still worked.

Thanks again!
