Hidden Lines from Families Displaying Solid

Hi,

When I insert a family into my project that isn't visible in the view the hidden lines show up as solid rather than dashed. When I go into the visibility/graphics parameters of the object and override the line patter for "<hidden lines>" to "hidden" then the lines show up as dashed. But without the override they show up as solid. I've checked that my line styles/patterns are set correctly for the <hidden lines> line style and made sure that the phasing graphic overrides don't override line patters.

Any thoughts?

So your placing an object below another object and it is not showing dashed? Correct...?

  • what is the Show Hidden Line view parameter set to in your view?

Either what @hmunsell said or the Hidden lines sub category in Object Styles had been changed.

Thanks for taking a look. I'm working on a kitchen plan and both the upper cabinets (which are above the cut plane) and the dishwasher (which is below the cut plane and under a countertop) show up as solid lines. The show hidden lines parameter is set to "By Discipline". The solid lines are the hidden lines from the family, I know this because when I go into the family and delete the hidden lines and reinsert the family those lines disappear.

Thank you @BDMackey  it looks like the line pattern for hidden lines was changed to solid in the object styles. Not sure how that happened. Thanks so much for your help!!
