Hey everyone! I'm starting to explore using Grasshopper to automate Revit! What have you tried using it for so far or what are you hoping you could do leveraging a dynamic relationship between Rhino / Revit? Curious to hear your thoughts!

I believe rhino/grasshopper is an excellent tool to design complex curtain wall forms. They have some advanced controls to smoothly edit to shape you want. I haven’t tried it, but I’ve noticed some users prefer rhino for complex curtain wall shapes.

Carlos Eduardo Espinoza for sure! I spent a year collaborating with a team doing framing coordination on a facade that pushed what is possible to build to the limits. And that entire design-build scope was coordinated in 3D in Rhino so it’s totally possible! The exciting thing with Rhino.Inside is we could explore how to get a much cleaner “design intent” expressed and documented in Revit and maybe avoid the massive step where contractors re-model everything from scratch to ensure constructibility. But yes, I do automation in both Grasshopper and Dynamo but am stoked to see the potential of using GH more!

That sounds awesome. There are tasks that are better handled with Gh than with Dynamo and vice versa. I’m still trying to figure out dynamo hehe..

Carlos Eduardo Espinoza aren’t we all! Would love to see you around the community I’m looking to explore a wide range of topics this year but do have an itch to talk computation in Q1!

Carlos it's also worth mentioning I started in Dynamo back in the day but found Grasshopper a lower learning curve to get into the world of visual programming because of how the data is formatted. Both are powerful but if I had to start with one, I'd go with GH. The biggest thing is starting to see your models through that additional layer of programming logic. You don't need to program everything but it sure helps simplifying otherwise tedious tasks!

Tim Halvorson thanks for the advice. I will give it a try. I guess I have to download it like a plugin right?

Carlos Eduardo Espinoza Yah take a look at the YouTube descriptions I linked over to Rhino Inside where they walk you through the install process. I was up and running in about 5 minutes they do a good job in their posts!
