Help with array and seat centres

Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.  I'm modelling a family of auditorium seating and I need the chair to be able to change size (in width).  The host family chair does this, but once I array it, it seems to lose this feature.  I.e. the model attached has a seat centre of 450mm.  I need to be able to flex this dimension between 450-550mm and have any further chairs in the array automatically do the same thing.

Create a chair as a family with instance Width parameter. Nest it in your main family, associate the parameter with a main family parameter, then array.
