Hi everybody!
I need to create this two families, the door and the window, could somebody help me? I´d like to know which is the best and the correct way to create this door and window with that shape inside. As you can see the inside is a bigger arc than outside and is that shape all around the door and the window.
thanks in advance for your help!
May I suggest that you find and download a reasonable facsimile of this door from a manufacturer. Many door and window Manufacturers, such as Pella, Marvin, Jeld Wen, etc., offer BIM content from their websites. You can reverse-engineer one of theirs to learn how to do it. That's how I learned -- and still do.
...regarding the concaved recessed; is this part of the door or part of the wall? I don't think it's part of the door.
I do a lot of wall recesses for doors and windows. I basically model them the way they are going to be framed. The way I'm reading your design, it looks like you can frame the recess with walls, and then model an opening surround (the finish material) to place inside the recess. I wouldn't be include it in the Window or Door family itself -- primarily because it's not Window or Door work. Looks to be masonry work to me. I could be wrong.
I'll try doing a screencast for you later on -- unless someone else jumps in with one in the mean time. Basically, I'd do it using a Sweep Extrusion. I'd sweep a Model Line with a Sweep Profile -- the Sweep profile being the cross sectional shape of the material. But, for now, you can frame rectangular openings with walls and floors (for the soffits and sills) - and insert standard windows and doors.
I´d like to see your solution, in the meantime, i´ll try to find a different way to do it.
many thanks for all your coments.![]()
