Help loading families

I'm using Revit 2019. I'm trying to load a door into my project, but I was getting the error "Some or all of the family files you selected cannot be loaded. You must choose family files of the category Doors."

I've tried loading directly from the Insert > Load Family and I don't get the warning, but the door still doesn't show up anywhere in the project. I've also double checked that the family file is specified as a door category. It's not even working with the families that come pre-loaded with Revit.

I've also tried opening the family separately and loading it into the project from there. I don't get any errors, but again, it doesn't show up when I go back to look in the project. It's not even showing up in the Project Browser > Families > Doors list.

I'm at a loss and any help is appreciated!

Load Family only loads the Family into the Project. Do you see it under Doors in the Project Browser. Betcha it's there.

...oops. I jumped the gun. I didn't read all your entire post. I see you did check for it in the Project Browser. Well, is it a "Door" family?

Betcha it ain't. :zwinkerndes_Gesicht:

What's the Category of the Family?

Just type in the name  of the Family into the Project Browser Search Bar.  That should find it in no time.

Let's find out. Type it's name into the Search Field. What Category does it show up under?

It's showing up under Doors, but it's not letting me drag it into the project.

Right-click on it (the Family TYPE, not Family NAME) and press Create Instance in the drop-down menu.

...do it while in a 3D View.

I can't find Create Instance. But I somehow managed to place it. No idea what I did, but I'm going to mark as solved.
