HELP! EXTREMELY URGENT! BIM for Acoustical Ceilings in REVIT

To anyone that may be able to help me,

Recently General Contractors have been pushing more and more for our trade to participate in BIM coordination for certain projects. Our office has never really participated in those because our trade is Acoustical Ceilings and we are very flexible so we typically can work our systems around the other trades in field. However Contractors are no longer allowing us to NOT participate in BIM coordination. So I have a general knowledge of Revit and how to move around a model however I have never personally modeled a complete Acoustical ceiling system before. So what I need help with is the following:

I need to produce a (2' x 2' & 2' x 4') ACT system complete with grid and tile (which I think I know how to do because there is a ceiling tool) but more importantly and more specifically I need to place hanger wires and compression struts/posts every few feet around the room and I need to show that in the model. So my two main questions are:

1) How do I create a complete ACT system in Revit

2) How do I construct and place Hanger wires and Compression Struts/Posts every few feet.

I greatly appreciate the help for anyone who can help.

Welcome to the forum!

The ceiling tool provided in Revit is for design intent geared toward the architect/designer.  You can create a ceiling tile layout with different grid patterns, assign different materials, give an assembly layers and thickness, and that's about it.

To create the level of details as you mentioned, I suggest you take a look at some manufacturers' website for their BIM content.  Maybe you can reverse engineer their details and put that into your own modeling/detailing.  One example below:

I have also do similar exercises placing main tee's, hangers and compression struts for suspended ceiling systems.  It is time consuming to lay out and coordinate with other trade's above-ceiling models (even with clash detection tools).  After a cursory internet search for solutions in the direction of an adaptive parametric family which lays out all the suspended ceiling system components appropriately spaced per parameter inputs, I'm surprised there isn't anything  like that in the available in the way of an add-in.  I'm sure a Dynamo script can generate ACT suspension systems at the click of a button (or two)....
