Having text and image issue when printing with BluebeamPSDriver from Revit

Anonymous

Hi all,

My Revit is using Bluebeam PSDriver for plotting the project plan to PDF.

Here I have the text font and orientation issue when exporting.

Besides, the logo image does not appear correctly as well.

Can someone please help?

What do I need to change in my setting or what?

We had at least 3 users suddenly start having problems today that sound similar to yours.  All 3 could plot their projects fine last Thursday, but not today.  So far, I’m thinking it sounds like an issue with an update.

The issue is that PDFs are produced by BlueBeam (and possibly other PDF drivers) that have font substitutions and some missing lines and logos.

Below are some characteristics I have noted among the affected users:

Commonalities:

  • All affected projects are in Revit 2020 (Coincidence?  Half our projects are Revit 2020.)
  • Plotted OK Thursday of last week.  Problems started today.
  • Single-sheet PDFs have these problems.
  • In multi-sheet PDFs, the first several sheets are OK.  Sheets after the first 10-16 do not get plotted.  The last 1-4 sheets that plot have these problems.
  • Fonts (common fonts, like Arial Narrow) replaced with one with widely spaced letters.
  • Some missing lines and logos.
  • Problems occur primarily in title blocks.

Differences:

  • 2 different projects affected.
  • Affects both BIM 360 and projects on our server.
  • 3 different users (or more) afflicted simultaneously.
  • Problem may affect more than one PDF driver.  All 3 users have had BlueBeam Revu affected.  1 user had PDF 995 affected, 1 user did not.

Hi sir  ( @sejohnsonphd45  )

Yes the problem just emerged yesterday only.

Last week the Bluebeam driver was working alright.

and yes it was on Revit 2020..

the problem just disappeared in the afternoon yesterday (after 3pm NZ time) suddenly without any change of setting.

Did anyone find a specific thing that was causing this issue?

Hi @mchristop

No clue at the moment. My colleague ran into this issue and few hours later the issue disappeared by itself without changing anything.

Yes, I believe we did.  I believe the issue was the Microsoft KB5000802 update, which got installed automatically for half our firm over the weekend.  When we uninstalled that update via the control panel, the problems went away.  IT is implementing some sort of preventative measure to keep it from installing on any other machines, and to keep it from automatically trying to reinstall on the computers we remove it from.

I guess KB5000802 is better known for causing Blue Screens of Death when trying to plot, but for us it just messed with lines, fonts, and logos in the title blocks.  Our reseller said a number of their clients have been experiencing font issues in PDFs because of it.  We were lucky, I guess.  Messed up plots beat computer crashes any day.

@

This is what I was assuming too. I actually just got done uninstalling KB5000802 and restarting my machine and I saw your post.

It appears that KB5001567 which actually removes KB500082 might also cause this issue.

KB5001649 appears to be working better for us.  I have only tested two computers, and only for a short time, but so far so good.

I had to download it from here because the Windows update download is not working for some reason.

@Anonymous  I'm sorry to hear you are having this issue.

On the start button in Windows, Type 'System Information'

On the System Summary page, What is your OS Name and Version?

Have you tried the solution in this article?

we followed the instructions, uninstalled 802, cannot install the KB5001649. because it will not download. Restarted the computer, opened Revit and now when printing to Bluebeam nothing happens, no save as dialogue box, not Bluebeam PDF, just nothing.

Any ideas?

Did you download the update from the link I provided. You have to figure out which one you need. Windows 10? 2004? X64?

I have been installing the version for 20H2 machines, because that is what I have.
