I've posted this before but never really got a solution. What needs to be done with this light family to get it to hang plumb and at specific heights from a sloped ceiling?
Thank You

In the family you need to check always vertical.
And if you want to have the light be adjustable so it can be higher or lower you will need to dimension between the host ref plane in the family and another ref plane that has the geometry of the light associated to it and then an instance parameter associated to it.
Thanks Mike But I'm not seeing an option, (always vertical), anywhere in the family properties.
in the family in any view. make sure nothing is selected and you should see these options in the properties.

Maybe it was created as a face based family, then had category changed to lighting.
The easy "solution" is to add a ceiling where you want it, use basic ceiling not compound, and host it on that ceiling. Then hide it.
Nest that family and load it into a new ceiling based fixture family and place it on the ceiling in the family.
Just select the solid host in your family and change the extrusion thickness to 0 and it will be deleted. Then you can have the Always vertical box to check. You also need to check work plane box and host the light onto a ref plane in the project. If you don't check the work plane the light maybe upside down and you won't be able to flip it.
If the set height is from the floor then it is better modeled as a level based family with an instance parameter to extend the hanger up to the ceiling on a case by case basis.
