Can you open one of the OOTB truss families that is close to what you need and modify it?

How does it look? I am not too familiar with these terms.

hello @roscopeco2000

Half-tie isn't a conventional name which we use for a truss over here. So it would be better if you provide some sketch in order help us help you :leicht_lächelndes_Gesicht:

You can open the W or the Fink Truss from the Revit library and modify it to this shape...it is not far off from this one...However; in the Family Editor you need to go to Visibility Graphics >> Annotations Elements and check the box to show them so you'd be able to unlock the constrains and set the elements as per your sketch.

If you do not need it to function as a Truss ... could also model it as a generic family from scratch

He took the truss family and amended...which I assumed you could do. If you are a structural engineer and as this is a structural element, you should flex it, change its members, check its structural integrity if it functions the way u need it to, add steel connections to it...etc. It's a parametric structural element ... that's what one usually does.

if you are not a structural engineer then as said before you most probably need a family, modeled in a Generic template and which represents the so looking half tie truss. and not the structural one....In other words if you are not running analysis, that's not your family!!

You do do realize that you can build that using wooden beems straight in the project too?

Then you will need to start with simple beam in the project environment and slowly move on to families... something similar to the below
