Groups' selection boxes are wider

Hey BIMsters!

I have problems editing groups in my project. Most often (even if it comes to non geometric changes, like adding new values in text parameters) it ends with fixing options, which I do not want to do, due to advanced stage of the design. I started digging it out and came up to groups' selection boxes being abnormally wide. It seems like some group elements have their origin points far away. I checked for the families and imports in families. Purged and exploaded all embedded DWGs. Still I can see wider volumes.

Tricky thing is sometimes different group instances have the same sizes so as the elemnents are here and there, they are surrounded by blue dashed boxes of exactly the same volumes. But smetimes groups instances "remember" some origin point and their blue boxes reach directly into it.

Any ideas hot to get rid of this problem?

Check that your groups don't contain elements that are excluded (but still remain) in the group. These all look like the same group in the image. Check for elements on worksets that are turned off.

Hope this helps.

You can Save a group to a RVT file and inspect the file see if anything weird is going on there.

All aforementioned solutions had been tested before. None of tem had worked so I needed to dig a little big deeper. Bath-pod group contains elements witch I have been playing with one by one. I found out that all families correctly but if I group one of them I got such a widely extended selection box. the "dirty thing" was exaclty in WC :). I checked all nested families (cistern, brush, flush, seating) grouping them directly in project file- all fine. So I checked the mother-family and after revealing constraints and activating (making visible) automatic sketch dims it comes out that some of them are far far away. This means somebody creating the family must have dragged the tempate workplanes while the family itselfs "remembers" wwhere the origin point is. Weird thing that made it difficult to find out is that families act normally being just selected. The problem starts when You group them.

Thanks for all the replies- problem solved!
