Group copying between projects automatically rename group

Hello,
Copying model group between projects, when in project i want to paste to already existed group with the name same as group i want to paste , Revit used to ask if i want to upadete existing group with one i  am copying in, or if i want to create new group type.
Thats no longer the case, Revit automatically rename pasted group.
Is that something that was changed in some of updates?
Can i somehow turn back on this option ?
If it was removed, it wound be serius downgrade in utility and workflow.

I can't recall all versions but I am pretty sure it was never the case...The warning/prompt you mentioned was and still is applicable for groups being copied and pasted within the same project but not those copied from a different project.

I am currently working on projects using Revit 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2022 and that is the case with all of these versions... If you know in which version that worked as you described please do tell.

When copying a group from a different project it always used to be added as new group with a new name to avoid conflict. Then you would either Use Match or Select all instances of the old group and swap it with the new group. (SEE GIF 01)

If your intent is to update an existing group (Group 1 in Project 1) to match that from a different project (Group 1 in Project 2), See GIF 02

  1. Save Group 1 in Project 2
  2. Switch to Project 1
  3. Right click Group 1 and select Reload (navigate to the location you saved to in step 1)

Hello, thank you very much, seceng gif does exactly what i need

About what i asked before, It used to work in 2021, used it last autumn.
I am pretty sure , cause we build our workflow on it. Project has been postponed, we have returned to it now and found out it no longer work.
Basicaly one model group of typical floorplan ,  Group 1 , that was used in 4 different model of diffent buildings with some number floors of this Model group.
We worked on and changed this group in model 1. and copy paste it to other three and it asked if i want to update.
Basically, the same affect as you have shown in second gif, but without steps of saving and reloding .
It may be barbaric way of duing things but it worked well, well , used to.
