Group converted to Link, will no longer join to model elements outside of link

I have a unit layout that began as a group, was converted to a link, now the walls in the link no longer join to demising/corridor walls in the model. Unit interior walls in the link run to midpoint of exterior walls (not in the link) and will not connect.  I could find no information on how to resolve this issue.

Elements in a link never join with elements in the host model.  You either keep them as groups in the host, or modify the elements geometry so that they terminate at the face of the walls, not the center (there still be lines separating them by the way).
