Glass block wall

What is the best way to make glass block wall, besides in place model or curtain wall method ?

- the curtain wall method seems never mimic the grout perfectly, but it s flexible.

I m thinking basic wall with core glass material with bold grid pattern, yet getting the translucent is a challenge.

Anyone?

Modeling grout?  Perfectly? Really? 

....out of curiosity. what does perfectly modeled grout look like?

Same as for CMU wall, hatch pattern assigned to wall material for 2D representation and a quality rendering material for the material appearance in rendered views.
