Hi,
I am trying to create a nested generic family (aluminum trim with a nested J-Channel) which can be stretched with grab handles in my model.
So, it stretches correctly in the model, and the nested family also resizes to the correct measurement, however, it stretches in the opposite direction of the host family.
(I need it as a nested family so that the lengths can be individually scheduled).
I have included the family below.

edit: added images of family at default length, and then one when stretched to the right, where the nested family stretches in the opposite direction.

See revised file attached. You need to constrain one ref end of the nested family to one ref end of the parent family. Oh and get rid of 2'-8" dim in the nested family.
Thank you, this is exactly it. I feel embarrassed to say this, but didn't know to constrain geometry to reference lines. For future readers - use align tool to move the geometry where you want it, and then click the lock.
Hi, Sorry to bother you again. I was able to use your assistance to help with my families greatly. I now am creating much more compounded versions of these families. And now I am running into a similar issue in two of the 12 nested families.
The Soffit refuses to go to the correct length. Is this because the nested-family and the host family are being extruded in different directions even though the parameter is the same?
Also, one of the 3 channels refuses to stretch as well. I checked the nested family and it is ok, and the other 2 work fine, I checked that the ends are correctly locked to the planes, yet it refuses to budge.
Any advice?

Associate the length parameter of each nested family with the length parameter of the host family. Then constrain one end of each family to the host reference plane. Do it systematically so that they are all constrained on one side.
