Get subcategory layer when exporting (currently exports with wrong layer)

Hi fellas!

For some reason I don't get the subcategory layer when I export to DWG.
Does anyone have a solution for this?

In this case it's a fire rating line made as an generic model in 3D.
When I export I get the main category, generic models, as the layer in DWG (red in pic) instead of the subcategory (yellow in pic)

I believe this is happening because you created the linework inside of an in place generic model family...because of that it is considered a generic model block so to speak...inside of Autocad if you explode the generic model family it will show as being on the modified layer.

Hi, thanks for helping out. I just tried exploding it, still same main category layer.

How were these elements created?

I attached a file that I exported for testing where I created a generic model, that was just lines, exported with the custom setting for the sub category and the result in Autocad is as I described.

Nice, I'll check it out. Here's our family that doesn't export as intended for me.

I was able to get the family you posted to export and when exploded it changed to the custom layer...I did a quick video

Alright, but you do have to explode it manually for each export? Any option or plugin that makes the exports auto explode?
Or,...maybe I need to create some old fashioned scripts for AutoCAD for that?...
This can be very time consuming (30 exports weekly).
