Hi all,
I am working on creating a dumpster enclosure gate family whose height can be adjusted. I started the family as a "Generic Model two level based", created the elements as I desired, and changed the category to "Doors" and saved (PM wants to see gates in door schedule).
My problem is that the intermediate tube steel bracing is "equally spaced" in the family editor, and adjusts perfectly if I change the Upper Ref Level (See Images 1 & 2), Image 1, in family editor
Image 2, in family editor
but does not do the same when it's loaded into a Revit model (see images 3 & 4).
Image 3, in Revit model
Image 4, in Revit model, after changing the top level.
I have double and triple checked the constrains and hidden constraints. The hinge families on the side do not have this problem, so my current theory is that this is a Structural Framing family issue that I am not catching. Below is the family name - it's one of Revit 2017's default families. i'm dimensioning to the justification point currently, which is center/center. I tried dimensioning to the endpoints, but got the same results.
Family name and location
Thank y'all in advance!

You are correct. Don't nest any OOTB structural families to you family. Create them from generic template then change them to structural if you need to.
You are right! I created a line based generic model, loaded in the tube steel profile, made a sweep, loaded it into the gate family, and it works perfectly in my Revit model. Thank you!
