Generic Family notching

Hi All,

I'm trying to notch a Loaded generic Family but when creating a "Model in Place" component (void) the cutting tool doesn't allow to select the family for cutting with the void created.

Can the notching be done to a loaded family? Just to clarify the notch is required in the main model as there will be different areas with different notches (shapes) and sometimes multiple notches are required, so creating a void in the family with changing instance parameters won't be enough (I have though about it :Gesicht,_das_etwas_Leckeres_isst:)

Attached the family I have created for the Ceiling slatted grille.

Thank you in advance for any assistance

Why aren't you using beam systems in the Project environment for this? Sure would make your life easier.

....you could cut this family with an In-Place Mass Solid in the Project.

Normally in-place void will not cut into family. You can use in-place solid and use join geometry to cut the family geometry. Afterward you can set the in-place family do demolish at same phase and it will show a hole in the family.
