Hello all,
So I am using Generative Design and trying to have a workspace layout study done. The results that I end up getting are not helpful at all and don't show where the desks should go. Am I just using this wrong? The screenshots are of one study I have tried to do, however I am getting similar results when I run other studies.

That just sorts the blank results that are already there unfortunately. I'm still getting 0 desks placed in the room:
So I thought maybe it was because I was using a desk/chair component, so I tried it with the standard Revit desk, and the results were basically the same:
Thoughts?
The element is this:
I have now tried with other desks as well and it isn't working at all. I thought maybe the room was too small, so I made another one that was much bigger to test it and I'm still getting no results.
The Grid Object Placement study is working fine, but the Workspace Layout and Maximize Window Views are not.
Are you sure it isn't running in the background? Betcha it is.
Check your Windows Taskbar. Do you see GD?
Oh it is running, but I have window open so I know it. It is just not giving me any results for Workspace Layout or Maximize Views.
I tried different doors to the room as well, ones that come with Revit, just in case it didn't like the door family and couldn't see the exits, but it still isn't working.
I don't know what to tell you. I have no issues. It did take a couple of weeks of practice though. Like with anything, there was a learning curve chalked full of "WTF???" moments. Still have those moments everyday. Such is life. That's why God invented beer.
Well I'm trying to get a training model working right so I can show my office how to use an assortment of features including generative design. I mean, I could always just end the meeting with this not working and tell them that sometimes Revit is just Revit, and that's it's 5 o'clock somewhere! ![]()
Thanks for your help and ideas though. If I figure out something or anything changes, I will let you know.
So an update on the issue: Autodesk support has escalated the issue stating that they think it may be a new bug. I will keep you all updated as we move forward.
Update on the issue:
Autodesk has created a support page as there is not a solution to the issue right now. The work around works with a column rather than a wall segment with my use so far.
I still have the issue, and placing a column or a part of a wall inside don't consistently work. I actually stopped training my office on it since it doesn't work right and usually ends in frustration instead of being helpful. It still feels kind of beta to me, which is a bummer considering how much Autodesk says they are putting behind it.
Actually this solution works for me, i just added a small wall segment then I got the result, and it was pretty fast
but now there is a different problem, when I choose one of the results, the tool is creating totally different solution than the one was originally picked.
As you can see in the next screenshot, I picked the second option, and this what I got!!
I think it is not a reliable tool yet!!
