Hi!
I am trying to link an ifc file (building services model) in Revit but the geometry looks very wrong once linked, I have never seen anything like that before (see attached image/file).
The file has been exported from a MagiCAD model to ifc and then linked in Revit (both 2016 and 2017). When I open the very same file in Solibri, everything looks fine, so I think Revit is the issue (or how Revit reads an ifc exported from MagiCAD).
Is there any known issues like the one I am experiencing or is there a solution?
Thanks!
David
I see the same. Ok in Solibri, bad in Revit.
I would do some trouble shooting:
-Try to export from Magicad with different export settings (e.g. IFC2x3, IFC4)
-Export a smaller piece from your Magicad project.
-Export a small new file from Magicad.

Please mention Revit version, especially when uploading Revit files.
Hi
I checked with both 2x3 and IFC4, and it makes no difference.
Unfortunately I don't have access to the MagiCAD file as it's from another company (and I don't know/use MagiCAD). I understand it limits the possibilities to find a solution...I'll just find another way I guess.
If anyone has a clue, your welcome to post it there, otherwise thanks for the answer!
Greetings from MagiCAD!
The big issue here isn't the export from MagiCAD, but the import to Revit. Even if the IFC file is working properly - as you witnessed in Solibri - for some reason Revit isn't able to import it correctly.
If the other company is working with MagiCAD for Revit, then you could ask for a Revit model instead of the IFC model.
Hi and Thanks!
I'll see what I can do with the company, it's holidays where I am and for the next three weeks 🙂
But isn't IFC supposed to precisely solve that kind of "file communication issues" between different programs?? Still some improvement to make!
I posted also on SourceForge, see if I can report that issue to the ones in charge of IFC...
