Form

Hi, silly question I just want to create a pitched roof as part of this box, how can I split the upper surface with a line which I can elevate to create the pitched roof? I mean line in Sketchup or Formit..

Thanks!

You could use Modify sub elements and to a split line and change its elevation. However, a preferred approach is using roof by footprint and define slopes, or roof by extrusion. For complex forms, you can create a mass and use roof by face.

Do a search on YouTube using the above keywords you will see plenty of video tutorials.

If you are talking about a mass form then draw the profile on a vertical plane (elevation) and create form.  Then you can add edge and raise it up to create a pitch roof form.

Either / Or

  1. If you loft the form vertically, you would need to use 2 Joined forms side by side (when unlocked you would be able to stretch the common edge up)
  2. Loft the Form Horizontally and add an Edge on the top plane
    • Note: Edge may only be added in the same direction of the Extrusion
