Hello, everyone.
I know Autodesk releases a new version of Revit every year, and I’ve always used the latest versions.
I’ve watched videos explaining the changes and new features in Revit 2025, but unfortunately, my company doesn’t have a dedicated tool manager to help us explore them.
From my experience so far, every new version of Revit has its pros and cons. While Revit 2025 looks promising, I’m not sure how well it will perform in practice.
One concern I have is that Revit doesn’t allow version downgrades, which makes it hard to decide whether to upgrade.
Do you think the differences in Revit 2025 are significant enough to switch from the 2024 version?
Can you not just install both?
I have the 4 currently supported versions installed, (but can only use one version at a time)
It is a tricky one to pinpoint!
We are more often than not driven by the project requirements and if we are working with others or collaboratively out deliverables are set at the start of the project and this will include the Revit Version SHOULD ALL use during the project lifecycle, so really it is out of our hands.
Many government organisations and larger companies with a vast numbers of licenses often work a year back so they will install 2025 when 2026 is released as this attempts to ensure it is a stable release and many bugs and updates have been resolved and less I.T. deployables/updates are required.
Then there is the need to upgrade as it may have a feature you really need and the latest release has delivered this for you so it is a necessity to use the most recent version!
In reality you should always have the last 4 years of releases installed so you can open older projects if needed without upgrading them if necessary.
