Food Service Equipment Tags

Just migrated to 2022 and found the "Food Service Equipment" Category - AWSOME, because we do alot of commercial kitchens.

When you use a family with this category, there is no automatic tag for Food Service. You only seem to be able to use multi category. SO, if you use the "tag by category", revit whinges.

Is there a category tag for the food service OR are we looking at another work around and half-arse change to Revit

Did you try making your own tag? My guess is Revit did not come with a Food Service tag and they are expecting you to make one.

Just create a new tag family, from generic annotation template and set it to food equipment tag. Add the parameters you want to tag and load it into the project

Please mention Revit version, especially when uploading Revit files.

What is it with users wanting everything?

Oh, no tags! What's up with that? Having to make my own means I have to think. This program sucks. It should come with everything so I don't have to think.

Thanks - You are one of the few people to offer a solution rather than just ragging out somebody for asking a question.

I think that you need to reread your OP. Not only did you ask a question but you added a bit of unneccessy commentary that set a tone.

I think the OP is all right.

We paid for Rv (it s not free), and at least they can provide a simple CK tag, so we can be ready to work-the real architecture work, not the Revit work, or most of us know it, the Rv work around works.

Technically speaking, you are paying for the right to use a software so they do not have to provide anything besides that...the OOTB families are an out of curtousy starter kit just like those provided in any other BIM editing application or CAD software.

If you want the simple stuff provided, what are you going to do when it doesn't suit your needs? Demand better quality?

I ran into the same challenge.  Semi-easy fix.  Open up the tag you typically use.  Save as a New Family - I used Foodservice Equipment Tag,  In Create - Properties - hit the Family Category and Parameters button, Select Food Service Equipment Tag and OK.    You should be in business.

As far as the other commenters tell them to kick rocks.  The change caught me off guard as well as I have been using specialty equipment tags for the FS equipment and suddenly the families I used were now Food Service Equipment instead of specialty equipment.  Very cool being all I do is Food Service Design but not expecting it at the upgrade.  Not all of us are REVIT gurus and we have to struggle through a little bit because we are self taught.

Seems to make more sense to help then criticize.  What did extending this thread accomplish?  Help or stay silent.

Your solution was posted in message #3.

When some adds commentary on top of asking a question, responses to said comments are not only acceptable but sometimes necessary. Clearly your intent was to comment on my posts because your solution is already present in the thread.

BTW, relying on Revit's limited content is not a good strategy. All users should be able to create their own simple content, at a minimum. This little bit of knowledge will increase productivity a lot. It helped you so much that you needed to repost it here.

My comment was basically breaking down the steps to easily develop a new category specific tag. You are correct, one solution was offered in response #3. I offered a different way to accomplish this. My intent was to break down the steps for the next person looking to solve this challenge.

As far as commentary, I am so sorry we are all not REVIT gurus like you. Apparently you were blessed with some sort of divine intervention that allowed you to know all REVIT functions without actually being taught or asking questions. REVIT is an amazing tool with a lot of functions that most people don't use or need to use based on their contributions to a project.

You can keep your rock. You may need it as that is what trolls live under.

We need the same tag feature for our food business, we have various Vegetarian tamale options on our restaurant and want tag on each.

Since you found this thread, have you made a family to suit your needs?
