Floors vs Ceilings

When you have a single story building, you can add a floor at level 0 and a ceiling at level 1.  The distinction between the two is clear.

When you have a multistory building, the celing of one level is also the floor of the next so when do you use a ceiling and when do you use a floor? Is it the intention that you would use both - a floor for the floor boards on the next level up and a ceiling directly under it to provide the plasterboard ceiling???  Given that these are system families isn't it feasible to have the floor on top, the rafters in the middle and the plaster board on the bottom (similar top, middle, bottom make up like walls) similar to how it will actually be constructed?

Have I missed something fundamental?

Thanks

For commercial buildings, floors are ceilings are more distinct.  For instance, concrete floors and suspended acoustical ceilings.

If your construction can have an assembly serves as both functions then feel free to model it that way.

Think STRUCTURAL. Use a FLOOR.

Ceiling and floor are different they both exist in a multi-storey building. Floors are structural, while ceiling are used to hide all electrical and mechanical stuff under the floor.

USe BOth.
