Floor vs. Ramp

A lot of guides and tutorials suggest using the floor tool as a means to achieve a ramp but I'm still not sure if this is really how it is done with most firms. Can anyone confirm what command (Floor or Ramp) their firms lean towards in regards to making car ramps?

I would lean toward floor rather than ramp. Reason are

- You can attached wall to the underside of the sloped floor

- You can join geometry with wall, roof, ceiling, column and generic model

- Can host rebar

- Can host railing

- Can have cutout

- Can create complete point sloped

- Can change slope quickly

- Can add assembly layers

@Al.Blancaflor

  1. The ramp element generated by the ramp tool has its limitations but is and can be used in certain situations. I do not beleave the tool itself was not intended for vehicular access ramps but can still be used for those.
  2. Floor elements are more commonly used for vehicular traffic/access ramps due to extended options available in layered structure in general and floor tool in particular.
  3. For Certain complex ramps you might use neither of the above and would need to generic models swept blends or massing (some apply floor or wall by face to the latter)

Which methods is right? I would say all, as long as you know the potential of each tool, what it has to offer what is the final result you are after...and it is always useful to keep all methods in mind as you may never know when you would need which.

You can find several posts on this forum on various ways to model ramps one of which is the following

Hi syman2000,

Currently I'm using 2022 version.
Are you sure it's allowed to model railings alongside the floors?
Also, I noticed that neither slab edges along the sloped sides of the inclined floors are not allowed.

Yes on both of your questions.  To place a slab edge to a sloped floor, change the floor to flat, place slab edge, then change the floor back top sloped.
