We have a floor plan and we are showing some site elements from a linked project. The architect didn't want to see the inner most lines that are a part of a curb. So I created a new floor plan in the linked project and used the lineweight tool to make those lines invisible. I was then going to go back into the visibility/graphics options on the first project and override the display settings for the linked project to use this new floor plan I created but its not an option. Many other floor plans seem to be able to be used. The floor plan I created is called 'site plan to be linked into floor plan'.

i would suggest you to use Custom and then select your view filters accordingly.
This gives you more options for you to choose exactly what you want to be visible and what not.
Make sure the View Types are matching (the one you created in the link and that which you are using in the main model)
ie: Open view >>> Edit Type
YOUTUBE | BIM | COMPUTATIONAL DESIGN | PARAMETRIC DESIGN | GENERATIVE DESIGN | VISUAL PROGRAMMING

When you create a view in the link did you save and then in the project did you reload the link? Revit will not auto reload link and you have to reload it manually.
