Finding ridge line between two different slopes

hello,

i want to have two different slope , one starting from each end of the floor. For example one slope is 1% and the other slope is 4%, where would they meet i,e ridge line. I want to see it for different slopes and see where corresponding ridge line lies. An example can be seen in picture where from one side 1% slope is starting and from other side 4 % and need to know where would be ridge line. First of all how can such two slopes be given to floor.

Thanks alot

You could use a flat slab with modified subelements, it will create the ridge line once you position the points. edit: right, that doesn't help you position the points you could do that in section.

Are you meaning something like this:

Slope Percentage.png

If so, check Variable Thickness for the Floor and use Modify Sub-Elements and Add Split Lines and the Hinges. You can find the Elevations and Hinge (e.g. intersection of 1 & 4) using Ref. Planes in side elevation view.

How big is this slab anyways?  Just curious.

I think you may find this helpful...

yes that is what i want and i dont care whether its in floor or roof. And i want these two slopes on all 4 sides and not just on one side. I am doing it just for seeing purpose with changing the two slopes again and again and see where the ridge line lies. Can u send a short vedio of this ,what you did. it will be very helpful. Thanks for your support

The slab is around 48 m x 55m and the thickness doesnt matter

You could break it up into multiple roof/floor pieces, then define the edges. But I think there's probably a better method.

yes and thats why i am searching for that method. With giving split lines or points to flat floor, we must know location of ridge line to place points there. In my case, i have to give slopes on two egdes and find where ridge line lies. With roof i can give slopes and get ridge line but for one piece and i cannot do it for all 4 sides

Share the .rvt, easier to see your specific situation. Is it equal on all sides i.e.? Usually drawing some reference lines to snap/align to does the trick I guess.

well, i have no specific rvt file. actually i am trying. its a floor/roof with opening in between as shown in picture of this topic, and i have shown slopes for lower part of roof/floor, it is for all 4 sides. I tried to create a generic family and do something there but there is also no option of slope. For me the important is just how it looks. it could be floor/roof or any other horizontal layer

Have a look at the face based void family and see if it helps. Ignore the 2 little roofs on the side.

A video of what?  How to locate the intersection of two opposing slopes converging into one another? It's two angled  lines traveling towards each other.  The point at which they cross each other is your valley or ridge, depending on whether they are traveling upward or downward.  Maybe it would be easier to model two overlapping roofs of different pitches (e.g. 1% and 4%) and then join them using the Join Geometry tool.
