Finding and importing generic components

Greetings.  My Revit-provided default library for residential components, although quite extensive, is still missing items that I use often.  I discovered bimobject.com which is great but, as I understand it, it seems to provide only manufacturer-provided items.  Therefore, the selection is vast and seems to be composed of each mfr.'s specialty items.  I am just looking for some generic components that I can add to my library.  Are there generic components at the bimobject web site that I don't know how to find or are there other web locations where I can find what I need?  Anticipating your question "For example...?", right now I am looking to download and add shower/tub doors although I am looking to flesh out all of my categories.

Also, please let me know if I'm using proper terminology - I am a new user.  I assumed that this would be a topic already addressed but I couldn't find it when I did a search prior to my posting this.  Thank you

I think it will be time to get familar with family creation. The families provided in the autodesk librarties can be seen as examples. As you noticed the families in BIMObject are most of the time manufacutrer specific items (and therfore free of charge).

So the best way forward would be to (learn to) create your own families. Then you can create them from scratch or modify existing ones.

Other alternative might be to purchase more generic libraries (google for something like "revit family libraries purchase"). These families are not brand specific and therefore created by companies who do this for a living. You best would be looking for a trusted company in your country/area as you will have the best possbility to find something that will follow local/country standards. You can find free content but the quality can be very mixed resulting in a big mess (families have different look and feel and different parameters creating issue with scheduling and creating coordinated views etc).

Please mention Revit version, especially when uploading Revit files.
