FIND ELEMENTS IN A WORKSET

I need to delete a workset, but there seems to be an element or elements that I can't find.  I have tried the obvious ways to find it (isolating workset, looking at groups in browser) but I can't find anything. I suspect there are elements assigned to this workset because If i try to delete it, it gives me the option to move the remaining elements to another workset or to delete the elements.

Do you want to keep or delete those elements?

Close all other worksets and create a multi-category schedule and see if anything show up on it.

Edit: No that does not work.

Hello,

When you try to delete workset there must be show you msg box with element ID.

If you have element ID go to Manage -> Inquiry -> Select by ID -> write ID and click to show.

Take a look at this new tool on Revit Store:

123 Search

Workset becomes a searchable feature for everything that could be linked to a workset.

check out the videos, it can do other useful tricks too.

DZStudio123Search offers nothing whatsoever to do with Worksets ... not sure what you are referring to.

If you type "workset" inside search text box of Abailable Features, the first three results are what you are after.

Here is what I get following your tip. In search Setup 2 I check WorksetID and then to the right the list populates but it is by far not full. There are so many other elements, families etc. belonging to Workset1 as well as 2 other worksets I have in the project. All worksets are set to be visible in all views, and are all opened and non-editable

The preview list might be chopped from the full list if it is too long, because of performance issue, and it is for preview purpose. To do a full search, click search button and proceed to step 3. It will show the full result, and will allow you to search for elements of a specific workset.

you are welcome to contact me by email if any questions. Not sure if this is the right place for this conversation : P

I followed your last advice and this is what I got

Fair nuff that you only disclose the 1st 5 elements of the search but it would be nice on a trial basis to be able to see a full list of all elements so we see how the whole thing works.

Message 14 of 25

I guess it's fair enough that 123 search finds 11k elements while a 3d view of all objects shows 2k ... I guess the extra 9k are 2d things that belong to view-worksets, like annotations, dims and so on.

Message 15 of 25

I guess this here is also a somewhat viable option

OK, tested 123search (non-trial) and it works exactly as @zhuliyi0 said. However, How can we get a list of only user-created Worksets so we see elements within those only?

136358viaucdk_0-1603878954150.png

Because only going for the WorksetID, as you said, lists absolutely everything ... materials, detail items, etc. How can I filter out only user-created worksets, which is usually Workset1 and a few other ones which are project specific? I don't need all those extra things like detail lines which are hosted per view, thus making the view their workset.

@zhuliyi0  ??? any idea on my last msg?

Ideate Software creates a Revit add-on that will sort elements by their User Created Workset.   You can download a full-functioning 14-Day trial here:  https://ideatesoftware.com/ideateexplorer/download_bd

You need to use Data Path to retrieve "features of feature", or "features of features of feature" and so on..

Follow these steps, and you will be able to filter out all elements inside user worksets:

0101

0202

0303

0404

0505
